WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN OCEANVOLT ELECTRIC MOTOR SYSTEM AND AN OCEANVOLT ‘HYBRID’ SYSTEM?

Both systems include the propulsion system together with the throttle lever, display, batteries and chargers.  An Oceanvolt Hybrid system in a complete electric propulsion and power management system that also includes solar panels, generators and the Oceanvolt RSI (remote system interface).

  1. I am seeing that you can charge your battery banks with shore power and a diesel generator and that solar panels are used as well. I am wondering is it feasible for long distance cruisers to charge their battery banks using solar alone. If so what sort of solar panels do you recommend and how long would it take to charge up a bank (in sunny conditions) to provide for 6 to 8 hours of motoring? Thank you, Trentin Echegoyen
