VOYAGE 480

VOYAGE yachts have taken the popular VOYAGE 480 to a new level - The VOYAGE 480 complete electric features 1.6 kWs of solar panels, 35 kWh of light weight, high capacity Lithium Ion batteries, as well as powerful and regenerating electric drives. Given the specific vessel's equipment demands, the option of a hybrid system, Oceanvolt SEA, is available. With this system, the vessel is further equipped with a DC generator, which is primarily used to recharge the battery bank, but which can also provide direct power for the propulsion engines.

The 48 volt electric motors are powered by a bank of high capacity Lithium-Ion batteries. This power is inverted to 110 volts for powering the air conditioning system, fridges, freezers, and all other electrical appliances, while a converter delivers 12 volt power for navigation and other uses.  In addition to daytime power from the solar  panels, the batteries are recharged  while under sail through hydro generation from the electric motors.

At average sailing speeds, the  regeneration of the electric motors will charge the bank at a rate of 2 kWh, and with the solar input of 1.6 kWh there will be a whopping 3.5kWh green free power coming into the battery bank.  The generation of power from the propellers and the solar panels will provide many hours of  silent green power  reducing generator running time to a minimum, if any!
